UMFF 2004 Film Screening

Spurgen Brown, Writer, Director, Editor Four Female Independent Music Powerhouses"Broke, Struggling and Still Independent" is the first feature length production from BrownAge Pictures. It documents the lives of four female Atlanta-based musicians. These four musical powerhouses are stripped down to the only thing that matters the music in their souls. The ladies reveal their most inner most secrets and dreams while fighting for their voices to be heard. Nod your head to Jill Rock-Jones ... be enticed by the lyrics and grooves of Carmen Liana ... experience Phillippia as she escapes ... be soothed by the sounds of Taffether. They are giving it their all so you can take a ride inside their lives, so roll the dice and score big with these four musical powerhouses.

About the CreatorsSpurgen BrownSpurgen Brown relocated from Winston Salem, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia and founded BrownAge Pictures while still attending AIU in Buckhead. Realizing his need for creative freedom, he created a platform that would give him the tools needed to supply the audience with "NewAge - NewIdeas" the BrownAge theme. Spurgen Brown has directed and produced numerous projects. Music videos, short films, video demos, and various experimental productions are among them. Spurgen has offered his talents in film production free of charge to any artist who takes their work seriously. Through this process, he has made a name for himself with independent artists in and around Atlanta. In 1999, BrownAge produced a short film called, "A Crossed Perception." Loraine FousheeLoraine Foushee relocated from Greensboro, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999. While attending AIU in Buckhead, she met Spurgen Brown through a mutual friend. After meeting Spurgen and finding out they were from the same city, and that he had started his own production company, she began to work with him on various projects. Loraine has assisted Spurgen by producing and shooting different projects. She became a significant part of BrownAge Pictures as the years went on. She and Spurgen set out to produce the documusical "Broke, Struggling and Still Independent" in late 2002. Since the completion of the documusical, both filmmakers have no doubt that as a team they can accomplish whatever they set their minds to. Tyga LeeTyga Lee relocated from Wilmington, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia in 1998 to pursue his career as a music producer and engineer. Tyga met Spurgen Brown while attending St. Augustine in the early 90s. Towards the end of their education, they both discussed the move to Atlanta to continue their dreams of working together. Spurgen started BrownAge Films, which led to Tyga being able to use his gift of music to assist on various productions. Tyga also formed his music studio called Mass Fusion Music. When Spurgen began production on "Broke, Struggling and Still Independent," he had only one person in mind for the film score Tyga Lee.
