We're saluting the 'best of the best' of independent mediamakers -- film, music, poetry, print, radio, television, and video. Winners will be honored during the first annual "Indie Media Awards Celebration 2004" taking place on Saturday, October 23, 2004, from 8:00 p.m. until Midnight, at Lab 601 Digital Post, downtown, 621 North Avenue, NE, Atlanta, Georgia. This event is during the 3rd Annual Urban Mediamakers Film Festival 2004.

All projects nominations must have been created using commonly-available tools of independent mediamaking without financing from a major film studio or corporate backer. Funding through a grant/scholarship is acceptable. The producer, writer, director, publisher, artist, group, host, and/or DJ must reside in Georgia.

All nominations must be received by October 15, 2004.

Nomination Criteria by Category

Independent Film -- Dramatic, documentary, animation, action, sci-fi, student, comedy feature films and short films made after January 1, 2002 and shot in DV, Beta, HDTV, 16mm or 35mm. We're honoring independent projects that tell compelling stories and uniquely use limited resources in creating, marketing, and distributing the project. Cast and crew nominations are also accepted in this category. All nominations must have been screened at least once at a public viewing.

Independent Print (Online and Traditional) -- Online/traditional magazine and e-mail marketing lists published after January 1, 2002.

Independent Music (Artist, Group and Music Video) -- Jazz, R&B, rock, hip-hop, Christian/Gospel, country, alternative, neo-soul, international, and techno. Recording must have been made after January 1, 2002.

Independent Poetry -- Written, spoken word, or performances to music completed after January 1, 2002.

Independent Radio -- Independent radio show, host, and DJ nominations are accepted with airing date after January 1, 2002.

Independent Television - Independent television shows are accepted with project airing date after January 1, 2002. Cast and crew nominations are also accepted in this category.

Independent Theater - Independent theatrical plays performed after January 1, 2002. Cast and crew nominations are also accepted in this category.

Supporters of Independent Mediamaking - The companies and associations that support independent Mediamakers the most in Georgia.
