Creating Urban Legends...

The Urban Mediamakers Association has announced the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival (UMFF) 2005 celebrating cultural diversity in independent filmmaking. Held October 14-16, 2005 at the Sheraton Buckhead Hotel, UMFF 20005 continues the Urban Mediamakers' goals of celebrating independent filmmaking, as well as all media that play an integral part of a film or video project - animation, film, music, print, television and video. UMFF 2005 brings a strong Atlanta vibe that encompasses the city's signature of being a 'melting pot' of cultures -- Blacks, Whites, Latinos, Asians, Indians, and Native Americans.

This year, we're focusing on Independent Film Financing and Distribution, and providing winners with tangible awards -- cash and prizes -- to continue their independent journeys.

To bring more of the general public to view independent media, we're offering all-day FREE independent film screenings on Saturday, October 15, 2005.

The UMFF 2005 features music video and film competitions (short- and feature-length, Writer's Row sponsored by ABC and The Walt Disney Studios, networking, workshops, independent filmmaking case studies of Hustle and Flow, Garden State, A Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and Big Ain't Bad independent films. The festival will provide workshops on Basic Film Financing and Selling Your Film: The Distribution Strategy.

FREE Information Seminars will feature Gorilla Software for independent filmmakers and FrameForge Software providing an excellent tool for storyboards.
